The Technology class has finalized its unit on webpage design and creation and the 12 and 13 year old students are excited about publishing them. Below are links by which one can access these pages. I hope you enjoy them.
This week, the students will begin the next unit which will teach them how to master Microsoft Exel. The unit is divided into 4 sections. The first section will introduce Excel and teach the basics. The second section, a Charting Workshop, will teach the essential of creating charts; the third, Intermediate Excel will continue to expand the student's knowledge with more advanced concepts, such as lists, functions and formulas. Finally, the last section, Advanced Excel will go into labels, forms and databases. Links to the 12 and 13 year old webpages: |

On the afternoon of October 16, QSI-El Tigre held its annual Math Olympics. This is a school-wide event where the students are divided into teams which compete head-to-head with each other. Students were divided into 4 teams; green, blue, orange, and yellow. Each team had team members ranging from the 5 year old class up to the secondary grades. Events included age/grade-appropriate computation skills and problem solving, a lightning round relay, spacial geometry/ problem solving with tangrams, and finally “watermelon math” where teams had to estimate the girth of a watermelon to the closest centimeter. The afternoon was deemed a success with the blue team coming out on top. |
